Owner Spotlight: Jennifer and Brooklyn Perkins of Wed Society New Orleans

A mother-daughter team turns a shared, long-held dream into a business for New Orleans’ wedding community.

Wed Society New Orleans is owned by mother-daughter duo Jennifer and Brooklyn Perkins. For years they talked about running a business together, and Wed Society is where that dream is becoming real. We spoke with Brooklyn about her background, her mother’s influence, and what comes next.

A New Orleans Native with a Creative Streak

Brooklyn is from New Orleans, Louisiana. She recently graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Studies, and she is now pursuing her Master of Business Administration there.

“I have always had a passion for fashion, event planning, creativity, and bringing people together,” Brooklyn says. “I’m excited to see how those interests continue to shape my professional journey.”

Leadership Built on Campus

Brooklyn took on several leadership roles during college. As a member of Delta Delta Delta, she served as Director of Social Events and as Vice President of Community Relations. In those roles she oversaw social and philanthropy events, PR and marketing, and community involvement efforts around campus and the city of Ruston.

Her chapter’s work earned national recognition. Their philanthropy efforts received the “Most Outstanding Philanthropy Event” honor at the sorority’s national convention. Brooklyn also served as Publicity Committee Head for the campus Union Board, where she started its marketing and advertising efforts.

“In this role, I developed a love for event planning, community engagement, and creating meaningful experiences for others,” she says. “These experiences strengthened my leadership, communication, and organizational skills, which I look forward to bringing into my ownership journey.”

A Dream Shared with Mom

Entrepreneurship was part of Brooklyn’s life long before Wed Society. She grew up watching her mother, Jennifer, build and operate her own franchises.

“Seeing her dedication, passion, and commitment firsthand was incredibly inspiring and gave me an appreciation for entrepreneurship from a young age,” Brooklyn says. She describes her mother as hardworking and self-sacrificing. “We always talked about owning a business together one day, so this franchise ownership opportunity is especially meaningful to me.”

The pair chose Wed Society because they believe it can make a real impact locally. They love the brand’s signature style and elegant aesthetic, and the way it brings together couples and talented wedding professionals. Both feel the brand matches their values and vision.

“It’s exciting to take something we once dreamed about and turn it into a reality while building on the values she instilled in me,” Brooklyn shares.

Looking Ahead

Brooklyn is most looking forward to building relationships and joining a creative, exciting community. She plans to help connect couples with talented local wedding professionals, support small businesses, and create opportunities for collaboration and growth. She also looks forward to learning and growing as a business owner, and to bringing her background in fashion, marketing, and event planning to the work.

“Most of all, I’m excited to turn a lifelong dream into a reality and create something I can be proud of for years to come,” she says.
